💛💜 MHA Week: Community and self-care, with gentle yoga evangelist, Jo Hutton

A conversation supporting Mental Health Awareness Week and this year's theme of Community

Hello everybody,

It’s Mental Health Awareness Week in the UK (12-19th May), and this year the theme is COMMUNITY, which just happens to be one of our speciality subjects.

And so the Shelf Help Club is supporting with a series of speedy lunchtime ‘lives’ with my favourite community leaders here on the platform.

For our third session I was joined by

, senior yoga teacher, yoga teacher trainer and founder of the community.

I love what Jo is creating here on Substack, and how she makes yoga and self-care so inclusive and accessible.

And we’d both love to know how community supports your mental health, so please share in the Comments…

📢 Next up: Salima, one half of

ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK 2025

The Mental Health Foundation has been leading MHA Week since 2001.

They say: “We want to use this Mental Health Awareness Week to celebrate the power and importance of community.

“Being part of a safe, positive community is vital for our mental health and wellbeing. We thrive when we have strong connections with other people and supportive communities that remind us, we are not alone. Communities can provide a sense of belonging, safety, support in hard times, and give us a sense purpose.”
