đ Start Here
Welcome to the Shelf Help Club and our quick start guide for new members.
Youâre now part of the inner circle, a community of curious, growth-minded people using books to design lives they love.
Hereâs exactly what to do to get the most out of being here.
Step 1: Get the latest book
For May/June we are reading Toniâs first book, YOU (The Beginnerâs Guide).
(Generally you will head to the our Book Club section to see what weâre currently reading. Beg, borrow or buy a copy, and if weâre mid-Read-along, you can jump straight in (our events are designed to be always welcoming, whether youâve done the homework or not).

Step 2 â Book out your Monday evenings
Monday is Shelf Help day. Every Monday at midday youâll receive your weekly Club email with your reading targets, event joining info and a reflective prompt, or small challenge for the week to support your reading.
Then every Monday evening at 7pm (UK time) we gather live for 45â60 minutes. It might be an author in conversation, a wellbeing workshop, or a book club discussion. The format changes, the time generally doesnât.
(You can also find all of this monthâs event details and joining links at the Book Club section).

Step 3 â Check out the Chat
Pop into our group chat and start connecting (the group chat is for paid subscribers only so you know youâre in a safe and trusted space). Maybe tell us your name, where youâre joining from, and what brought you to Shelf Help Club. This is where you will start to find your people! Someone will welcome you, and itâs often me.
(If you prefer to ease in gently, thatâs fine too. Showing up to your first Monday event is a brilliant introduction in itself).

Step 4 â Understand where everything lives
The Book Club: All the information on our current BOTM and Read-along, Monday emails, event links, and past Book Club archive. This is your home base.
The Library: Past author interview replays, podcast episodes, and general resources. Browse anytime.
The Group Chat: Our private conversation space. Jump in, ask questions, recommend a book, share what youâre thinking.
Find Local Shelfies: Looking to connect with self-help lovers near you in real life? Head here to add your city, find a local chapter or start your own!
New to Substack? Donât worry. This page will give you a quick orientation so you can find everything easily.
Have questions? Drop them in The Group Chat or reply to any of my emails (I read everything).
Iâm so glad youâre here.
