I am officially in love with this podcast. THIS is exactly what Iβve been leaning into lately. Teaching cancer patients to journal, teaching medical students, teaching women in menopauseβ¦ I see the prescription of words and language as cognitive power. Helping people find the Joy in writing their stories.
Our first fan!!!! Thank you :) And YES - Tanya and I are both 100% here for finding the JOY in stories.... and life! What's a book that has been pivotal in your life?
I have now written this post three times and scratched it out. Too many to choose! Literary, romance, coming of age, mystery - they have all offered insight or entertainment. But, in 2008 my mother gifted me Dr Wayne Dyerβs book, Change your Thoughts, Change your Life and that was a pivotal moment in how I thought about my story. * corrected date
I have many many favourites. Here are 5: Sand Talk by Tyson Yunkaporta, Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer, Flying Lead Change by Kelly Wendorf, The Women I Think About At Night by Mia KankimΓ€ki, Love Stories by Trent Dalton (Mia KankimΓ€ki's book will be the first book in my Book Club for 2025)
This was so great! ππ₯° Lovely to get to hear more about you both today and really looking forward to the upcoming episodes.. I'm officially a fan! ππ§‘
I love that Tanya recommended "Things I Don't Want to Know" by Deborah Levy. That one is never far from my desk! In a similar vein, but more practical than lyrical, I'm currently reading "Ten Things About Writing" by Joanne Harris
Oh this is beautiful podcast. So many lovely books suggestion. I have a little morning ritual which includes reading, journaling, meditating and exercise. Each of it for only about 10-15 minutes or even less but it is such a nice way to start a day.
Loved this first episode so much and looking forward to the rest. It will become part of my Saturday morning golden time π
Was that moi you were referring to Toni? π Iβm very pleased to report that since my guilt question in the shelf help clubhouse I actually read a whole novel in a weekend for my local library bookclub βοΈ
Tanya I love the concept of telling my inner critic to simmer down! Already used this morning.
Thank you both for a lovely start to the weekend π€
A beautiful first episode. I can't wait to listen to all the episodes. This podcast has gone to the top of my podcast list. I love the recommendations.
I have read Tiny Habits and have Atomic Habits on my tbr shelf. I've put the rest on a recommendation list in my reading journal.
I'm currently reading Self Care for Winter by Suzy Reading and Designing Your Life by Bill Burnett and Dave Evans.
After listening to your podcast I think you may be interested in a memoir I have written. You mention liking memoirs and stories of overcoming struggles. I'm not a famous author but this was a huge goal of mine to put this out there. Check it out on amazon if interested. Must change it to your specific country for amazon. Currently my link is for US amazon.
Breathe is a raw and gripping memoir that takes readers into the
heart of two avalanchesβone literal, one figurative.
Linda never expected to witness her friend being buried alive, a
trauma that haunted her for years. But nothing could have prepared
her for the wave that would hit next. In March 2020, as COVID-19
swept across the globe, Linda answered the urgent call for rapid-
response travel nurses, thrust into the epicenter of a historic crisis
with barely any time to pack.
With years of critical-care experience, Linda was no stranger to high-
pressure environments, but this was different. Isolated from her
loved ones, working 84-hour weeks, and watching patients die daily,
she fought not only the virus but also political hostility,
abandonment by friends and family, and the failures of the very
healthcare system she had devoted her life to.
In Breathe, Linda candidly shares her journey of survivalβnot just
on the frontlines of a pandemic, but in the face of overwhelming
personal loss. Her story is one of resilience, sacrifice, and
rediscovery, as she pieces together who she was before, and who
