We want your questions for Marie Kondo
(and your invite to join us tonight for a live chat + watch party on Sparking Joy)
Hello everybody,
This week weโre continuing our exploration of the art and science of getting happier with a dive into the magic of tidying up.
Marie Kondo became a household name for her organisational skills, thanks to her first book, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying in 2014, in which she taught readers how to declutter their homes and find more joy.
Did you read it?
Mr Shelf Help did, and turned into a wardrobe decluttering ninja! (Meaning I kind of had to by default, seeing as we lived in teeny apartment together ๐).
Out with energy sapping excess. In with renewed joy.
And tonight youโre invited to join our Watch Party of the first episode of the Marie Kondo Netflix series, Sparking Joy, in which she goes beyond homes and applies her KonMari Methodโข to help people balance work and home life, and to improve their relationships and communities (a gold star to you for each of the Build the Life You Want happiness pillars you can spot here!).
A Watch Party is a chance to watch and discuss something from the comfort of your own home. We use text chat so no cameras or dress code required. And itโs a great, stress-free way to learn something new and connect with the global Shelfies. (BYO snacks).
Members/subscribers: find the relevant episode on Netflix (Episode 1: The Joy of Family). Log on to the SHC Chat in Substack from 6.30pm tonight and look for the private Watch Party thread started by me (and hosted by David). Weโll be pressing PLAY together at 7pm and the episode lasts around 40 minutes, giving us 20 minutes post ep chat time.
Non-members/subscribers: upgrade today to join this and all of our Club activity for just ยฃ4.99/month, including next Mondayโs author session with Joey Hulin, whoโll be sharing guided exercises from her new book, The Meditation Yearbook.
Everyone: if you have any burning questions for organising guru Marie, please share them as Iโm interviewing her next Saturday as part of the Clean & Tidy Home Show in London that weโre both speaking at (or - even better - come and see us! There are still some tickets available).
"I want to help people to find joy not just by tidying their homes but in every area of their lives,โ says Marie.
And who doesnโt want a little more joy in their lives?
I hope you join us tonight to learn some new ways to cultivate itโฆ
